Intraplate Volcanism: an igneous activity what occurs within a tectonic plate away from plate boundaries.
Ring of Fire: the linear zone of seismic and volcanic activity that coincides in general with the margins of the Pacific Plate.
Lava: the molten, fluid rock that issues from a volcano or volcanic vent.
Magma: molten material beneath or within the earth's crust, from which igneous rock is formed.
Viscosity: the state or quality of being viscous.
Silica content: Silica is silicon dioxide, the most common component found in rocks and minerals. The composition of different types of magmas are assessed partly based on silica content, or the amount of silica in them. This content significantly affects how the lava behaves.
